Eastern Indo-Greek Kingdom, Apollodotos I Soter, c. 174 - 165 B.C.

Apollodotos was an associate king of Eucratides and colleague of Menander. He ruled the provinces south of the Hindu Kush. Mitchiner lists these mint monograms for the drachm but not for the hemidrachm.

Silver hemidrachm, Mitchiner IGIS, Vol. II, p. 117, Type 208 var (monograms); Lahiri 3; cf. Mitchiner IGIS, Vol. II, p. 116, Type 207e (same monograms, drachm), Fair, 0.955g, South Chach mint, obverse "BASILEWS APOLLODOTOU SWTHROS", elephant standing right, AN monogram below; reverse Karosthi legend: Maharajasa Apaladatasa tratarasa, humped bull standing right, AP monogram below.

One of the stronger psychometrics in this recent collection, it has a lot of history and a long personal log of events recorded within its silverness. The high silver content helped it to retain the images and sounds of times long gone by, and perhaps this was once part of your personal stash. If so, here's an opportunity to regain a long-lost companion in one of your past lives.
